A History of Frogs
Thithonus is a large-scale, fantastical vessel designed by the art and design studio, A History of Frogs. Composed of cast aluminum, the sculpture consists of a central vase-like structure that is held in suspension by faerie-like insects. Their wing-like formations surround the vessel on every side, conveying the illusion that they are hovering in flight. The name “Thithonus” is in reference to the Prince of Troy and lover of Eos, who turned into a cicada after Eos mistakenly asked Zeus to make him “immortal”, rather than correctly requesting he be blessed with “eternal youth”.
