Jewelry artist Gala Colivet Dennison often experiments in composition, balance, weight and texture, relying on her physical intuition to shape and dictate the form of her work. For her brooches, she explores both the vast potential and the stark limitations of contrasting materials and the way in which they may age and tarnish over time. She hopes that her preoccupation with decay and denigration inspires the wearer to search for a beauty not presented explicitly or conventionally. Heavy and gestural, the works appear pure, raw and elemental in form.
