Painted Tole Tulipiere

This black painted tole tulipiere was made in France in the early 20th century. Five metal tiers ascend vertically and culminate in the shape of a pyramid. The bottom oval tier of the jardinière is bordered by a raised wire scalloped gallery-edge. The lightweight and versatile vessel rests upon small cast lion paws, an amusing detail. Though antique, the tulipiere appears quite contemporary, and would make a lovely display for tulips or wildflowers.
