George III Style Chair

This George III Style Chair is a wonderful example of the Victorian taste for imaginative furniture reproductions, popular at the turn of the 20th century. Emulating the prevalent style of design during the reign of King George III    (1760-1820), the chair’s carved toprail is ruffled and scrolling, with restrained but refined ornamentation. Made of mahogany, the acid-yellow silk upholstered seat is most likely original. The underside is stamped “REPRODUCTION BY TIFFANY STUDIOS”.
