Untitled
The artist Alice Wong was born in Hong Kong and began working with Creative Growth in 2003. Known for her photographic transformations, Wong uses blocks of color to both enhance and obscure her subjects (reminscent of artist John Baldessari’s work), whereby the viewer is encouraged to search for contextual clues. These simultaneously orient the viewer while suggesting a larger abstraction of form. Her painted postcards further suggest a “window” that looks out onto an indescernible exterior landscape, inspiring notions of acute observation, nostalgia and emotional detachment.
