Tiffany & Co
After years of painstaking development, Louis Comfort Tiffany trademarked his unique “favrile glass” in 1894. He was particularly inspired by the iridescent finishes of ancient Roman glass, and endeavored to achieve a similar appearance using metallic oxides. In 1900, he exhibited his new glass at the Paris Exposition and won the grand prize. Though miniature in size, this diminutive favrile jigger shimmers flamboyantly in hues of ochre and electric violet. It has a ribbed piping detail that allows for safe gripping and its bottom is inscribed with “LCT” for Louis Comfort Tiffany.
