Argonauta series
For this collection of champagne glasses, made in collaboration with glassblowers in the Czech Republic, the family-owned glass workshop employed a freeform technique, applying excess heat to create a pearly opacity, not unlike René Lalique from the 19th century. Exploring ideas of organic decay and mutations in nature, Cameranesi-Sgroi allows the glass to breathe, and to take on a life of its own. The result is an unexpected and almost uncanny expression of the material, which becomes corporeal in nature.
