McDonald’s familiar yet ambiguous references to historical architecture appear in these chimney pot-like tulipieres. Each is slab-built from imperfect foundational shapes, mostly circles and squares, with sprigged decoration appropriate for a Tudor fireplace. There is a visual tension between the appearance of the heavy, brick-like structures and the delicate flowers which they intend to hold. This amber glazed vase has punctuated holes and a central turret to display tiers of flowers, and is decorated with low relief moldings.
