Ceramic Flower Brick 021
McDonald’s familiar yet ambiguous references to historical architecture appear in these chimney pot-like tulipieres. Each is slab-built from imperfect foundational shapes, mostly circles and squares, with sprigged decoration appropriate for a Tudor fireplace. There is a visual tension between the appearance of the heavy, brick-like structures and the delicate flowers which they intend to hold. This cylindrical glazed pot has applied decorative fruits, as well as multiple punctuated holes on top to showcase arrangements of individual flower stems.
