Weinberger’s background in historic preservation is present in her informedness of age-old techniques such as pâte de verre. The results of this cumbersome process are unique, elegant panels of translucent glass, which have been fastened with custom hardware into wall sconces. The lights are abstract and sculptural, vaguely evoking flowers with translucent petals, a nod to the Art Nouveau period when a revival of pâte de verre flourished. This wall sconce is composed of matte-textured shards of glass, smoothed and rounded, overlap. The diffused translucency offers an overall rich and unusual material quality, and creates a perfectly warm light when switched on.
