AEO Chair

This AEO armchair by the design studio Archizoom Associati is constructed of flat painted steel, tubular steel, canvas, and a thermoplastic base. It highlights Archizoom’s ability to design with multiple crafts in mind; fabric production, engineering, steel fabrication, and molding of modern plastics to form a self-assembly chair that doesn’t reference historical forms. At its conception at the Cassina Center in 1973, the chair was offered with almost unlimited choices and combinations of upholstery. The original fabrics are in perfect condition: here a cushion in a blue check, with a white canvas back.
