This antique architectural stained lead glass panel is a charming example of the Art Nouveau style found in the decorative arts of the late 19th to early 20th century. Centered at the bottom of the composition are three heart-shaped tulips in opaque shades of mauve and violet. The flowers rest upon emerald oval cutouts that fan out symmetrically, evocative of an emerald field where perennials sprout. At the panel’s top is an enigmatic shape that may symbolize another bloom, or could be an insect like a cicada or beetle, which were common motifs of the period.
