Jordan McDonald
McDonald’s familiar yet ambiguous references to historical architecture appear in these chimney pot-like tulipieres. Each is slab-built from imperfect foundational shapes, mostly circles and squares, with sprigged decoration that wouldn’t look out of place on a Tudor fireplace. Whatsmore is the visual play between the heavy, brick-like structures and the delicate flowers which they intend to hold.
Two conjoining cylindrical volumes in a deep aubergine glaze and low relief decoration, with multiple holes to showcase arrangements of individual flowers.
