Octopus Trap Lamp

Nick Poe

Nick Poe’s Octopus Trap Lamp is composed of a pair of Portuguese terracotta octopus pot traps from the 1960s. Naturally adorned with shells and barnacles, the base of the work anchors an elongated cotton electrical cord, attaching to an elegant French milk glass shade from the 1930s. The complete series is a study in the recontextualization of naturally found treasure, as well as the way in which these lighting forms can intervene and unite space architecturally.
