Attributed to Louis Comfort Tiffany
Tiffany & Co. began producing their iconic stained mosaic glass lampshades as early as the 1890s. As was popular at the time, the widely cherished lamps often included art-nouveau design motifs such as irises, pond lilies, fireflies, butterflies, trees, and other patterns inspired from nature. These lamps are not only beloved fixtures within domestic spaces, but also vitally important to the American historical design canon.
Deviating from the more traditional Tiffany & Co. visual vernacular, this delightful mosaic table lamp is a reinterpretation that takes a modernist approach. Handmade in the 1950s, the mosaic is comprised of playful, bold colored glass arranged in a geometric, graphic shape.
