Anthroposophical Lampshade

This rare wall or ceiling lampshade typifies the anthroposophical ideals of the Austrian architect, esotericist, and educational reformer Rudolf Steiner. Made in the 1920s, the creamy surface of the faceted parchment paper exhibits an organic veined appearance, much like animal hide. Surrounded by a delicate oak frame, the shade protrudes from the wall or ceiling as if it were a freshly cut gemstone emerging from the earth.
