Fish Lamp (Desk Model)

An artist that often “lets the idea dictate the form” of his serial works, Calvin Marcus created a lamp that humorously interrogates and interrupts notions of preciousness and formality in fine art. Made with glazed ceramic, silicone, Korean lacquered paper, and bamboo, Fish Lamp (Desk Model) is utterly delightful; the ceramic fish bear an amorphous footed design detail plopped in a triad at its foot. The gleaming lacquered paper shade is held in suspension by a bamboo base – perhaps a witty nod to a fishing pole.
