High Gloss Coffee Table

Shin Okuda’s practice operates under his Los Angeles based studio Waka Waka. Years ago, Okuda and Jacqueline collaborated on High Gloss Coffee Table for her home, combining their unique design sensibilities to produce a work that prioritizes function while underscoring materials and finish. The table is a baltic birch plywood table designed to taunt the rules of physics as it appears to hover above the ground. The bright red pop of the automobile paint finish is inspired by Jacqueline’s favorite shade of lipstick.

Geometric and substantial, the table has an infused element of curious surrealism which permeates this handsome work.
