Entomology Lantern in Cube

Charlap Hyman & Herrero with Pilar Almon

New York architecture and design firm Charlap Hyman & Herrero continue their established holistic approach with punctuated intentionality in this featured work, The Entomology Lantern in Cube. The pendant light is made out of delicate rice paper and bamboo ribs and showcases the versatility of the familiar, beautifully creasing and folding with structured poise. In their tradition of collaboration, the light features hand painted figurative work by artist Pilar Almon, who added a variety of charming insects – from moths to praying mantises.

These delicately placed moments pay tribute to organic materials and processes, while acting as a memorandum to the natural world.
