Tapestry 1 (Peterson's Magazine, 1888)

Wretched Flowers

Mirroring their background in floristry, Wretched Flowers created Tapestry 1 (Peterson’s Magazine, 1888), a fiberless tapestry that juxtaposes the harsh and brutal origins of chainmail with the delicacy of flora. This substantial and formidable draped tapestry was executed using a 4-in-1 pattern that some speculate was invented by the Celts as early as 400 BCE. Embellished with antique white jade beads, it tells an ancient folklore while simultaneously tuning into soft sensibilities, balancing both masculine and feminine handiwork.

This piece is singular in its commanding presence and regality and can be hung as a curtain or a wall piece.
