Claudia Girbau Pina
A continuation of her ever-evolving body of work utilizing stainless steel, Claudia Girbau Pina created a series of floor lamps that diffuse light through contrasting natural materials. Amongst the initial perceptions of her work, LAX132, is the lack of preciousness to its drapery. The repurposed rich brown goat hide seemingly exhales in its burdened posture. The contrast of steel and natural ephemera is a triumph; it conveys a fluent eloquence while leaning into the wildly antithetical. Congealed by its tresses and dimmed by its saturated opacity, the light finds its way through subdued restraint.
