Lounger
Trained in metalworking, German designer Stefan Herzog is known for producing limited-edition furniture that demonstrates thoughtful craftsmanship and expressive ornamentation. Made in 1989, this lounger is composed of a cast metal and wrought iron frame, articulated through slender linear and curling details that evoke historical ironwork. The arm rests are shaped like fantastical horses, while the adjustment mechanism takes the form of their tails, electric like lightning. Brass finials punctuate the structure, and the lounger is softened by exquisite upholstered lime-green box cushions in original brocade fabric. Though intended as a chaise lounge, the lounger can also be transformed into a simple armchair by removing one portion.Â
