Needlepoint Mirror

The Cotswold School was a loosely connected group of artists, designers, and craftspeople working in the Cotswolds region of England in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, closely aligned with the British Arts and Crafts movement. This embroidered strut mirror, made around 1920, is framed in walnut with a bevelled mirror plate. The surrounding panel of delicate needlework embroidery depicts an idyllic bucolic landscape, with figures, animals and stylized foliage. Strut-backed, the mirror can either be displayed on a tabletop surface – like an elegant picture frame – or hung on the wall.
