This rare prototype of Joe Colombo’s 4801 plywood chair for Kartell is composed of three interlocking sculptural painted plywood pieces, creating a chair that appears fluid while also exhibiting its formal construction. The chair features an amusing prototype cushion, never realized in later iterations, that is made of plastic and reminiscent of an inflatable pool toy.
