Made of vintage silk taffeta and backed with white silk moire fabric, Untitled (Grape Leaf), is an exploration of seemingly opposing forces, between interpretations of softness and rigidity. The leaf retains a delicacy in material and three-dimensionality, while also being sewn taut to its backing. In line with Camarra’s preoccupation with transposing images and iconography across different materials, this work demonstrates a curiosity about an ancient visual vernacular and memory, within her own contemporary lens.
