Hand-painted rope daybed

Not Attributed

This Pennsylvania painted bed, from the mid-19th century is rare in its green color with a hand-painted golden, honey-comb pattern. As was typical in shaker fashion, the base of the bed is composed of intricately woven rope to support a mattress. Both the headboard and footboard feature acorn finials and the bed is a testament to the local craftsmanship of the time.
