Settee
Fede Cheti (1905-1978) was a pioneer in textile and rug design in Italy during the mid-20th century. In 1936 she founded her own company in Milan, which employed many prominent artists, designers and illustrators. Gio Ponti was one with whom she worked but also shared a close personal relationship. This Fede Cheti settee, characterized by a flourishing lip or moustache shaped-back, retains its original lavender upholstery. The fabric is sun faded along its base, suggesting that the sofa most likely once wore a pleated skirt, an original component of the design.
