Double Braided Rug
This early 20th-century New England rug, found in Maine, features a bold, graphic composition that creates the illusion of two rugs within one. It is made from a single continuous three-strand braid, densely worked and fully hand-laced with commercial cotton cord. Constructed entirely of wool, it uses settled aniline dyes in tones of pine, pewter, emerald, espresso, and apple. The surface is firm and flat, with light abrasion consistent with use.
