Arts & Crafts Axminster Carpet

In the manner of C.F.A Voysey

A large flatweave carpet attributed to the renowned architect, furniture designer, and textile designer, C F A Voysey.  Whilst he embraced industrial techniques for fabrication, Voysey’s contributions to the Arts and Crafts Movement, and British Modern Style thereafter, are second to none. His designs were heavily influenced by regional crafts as opposed to any academic or trend based designs.

The chartreuse and daisy-yellow of this carpet show a typical Voysey pattern – rhythmic yet flat, with interlocking foliage and flowers around an exquisite border.
