Palimpsest I

Grace Atkinson's ever-evolving practice exhibits an utmost meticulousness, remarkable artistic deftness as well as the artist’s deep well of thoughtfulness and feeling. Palimpsest I serves as an improvised record of generated (generational) nostalgia filtered through a present (now, passed) state of consciousness. The work is artfully and tenderly composed of select garments and materials such as a vintage rabbit fur coat, vintage hand knitted wool jumper and silk scarf, with cotton thread. The composition allows for a recontextualization through a simultaneous process of erasure and revival.
