Weinberger’s background in historic preservation is present in her informedness of age-old techniques such as pâte de verre. The results of this cumbersome process are unique, elegant panels of translucent glass, which have been fastened with custom hardware into wall sconces. The lights are abstract and sculptural, vaguely evoking flowers with translucent petals, a nod to the Art Nouveau period when a revival of pâte de verre flourished.
Materials: Kiln cast glass, electrical components
This sconce consists of two leaf-like plates, thick and smooth, overlapping to give various levels of translucency. The unusual material quality of the textured matte glass creates a perfectly warm light when switched on.
