Hannah Kuhlmann

Hannah Kuhlmann (b. 1989, Cologne, Germany) creates conceptual objects at the intersection of domestic objects, sculpture, and light. Metal forms the core of her work, which she approaches like adornments for a room. Kuhlmann questions the pursuit of industrial perfection, conceiving her objects as companions with an inherent sense of autonomy and presence — sometimes dressed or adorned, evoking a quiet intimacy. Each piece is individually crafted by hand in her Cologne studio, shaped through a process akin to tailoring — inviting a heightened awareness of the mundane. She holds a BFA in design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht.
