Kristin Dickson-Okuda
Dickson-Okuda's work is often about connection – how we connect to ourselves, each other, our surroundings, structures of meaning and forms of experience. Her practice reflects her earnest enthusiasm and reverence for the capacity of disparate materials to engage with one another in both struggle and cohesion. The artist's fishtail pillows are the perfect encapsulation of her vision; with violet silk jacquard and toile, the pillow casings drape onto the floor, much like a languishing iridescent fish, on the cusp of deadly expiration.
