Made in the early 20th century, this traditional diamond pattern patchwork quilt was originally a deep crimson and emerald green cotton-blend textile. Due to its age and sun exposure, the vibrant colors have faded to more subdued tones of mauve and soft moss. Hand sewn with precision, the stitch rhythmically oscillates from being scalloped over the diamonds to straight over the diagonals.
A celebration of its exactitude, the straight lines gridlock at each intersection. Three sides of the quilt’s border were patchworked with a triangular pattern, and the fourth is kept solid with diagonal lines that converge in the middle.
