Peter Rippon

Peter Rippon (b. 1950, Essex, England) is a British-born artist and designer based in the United States. He studied at St. Martin’s School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools in London from 1969 to 1974. Throughout the 1970s, Rippon exhibited his paintings and drawings widely in the UK, including at the Royal Festival Hall and Hayward Gallery in London, Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol, and Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, and was represented by Nicola Jacobs Gallery in London.

After moving to the United States in 1979, Rippon continued to exhibit in New York, where he was represented by Pam Adler Gallery, Jacobson/Hochman Gallery, and Barbara Toll Gallery. In 1983, he founded Rippon Design, a cabinetry and design studio that brought principles and ideas from his fine art practice into the creation of custom furniture, interiors, cabinetry, objects, and artifacts.
