Grace Prince's practice concentrates on the subtle compositions between materials, surfaces, and alignment. Whilst fully preserving the condition of function, she researches a specific mode of beauty that studies poetics within fragility and absence. Supporting artisanal craft is central to her practice; each element is formed by her hand or in close collaboration with an atelier. Her core motivation for making work is the possibility of pushing material boundaries. All the pieces in this collection begin with a relatively pure form, then are worked, cut, re-welded, and rejoined. In her welding each mark leaves an intentional and exposed trace.
