Arts & Crafts Axminster Carpet

In the manner of C.F.A Voysey

A large flatweave carpet attributed to the renowned architect, furniture designer, and textile designer, C F A Voysey.  Whilst he embraced industrial techniques for fabrication, Voysey’s contributions to the Arts and Crafts Movement, and British Modern Style thereafter, are second to none. His designs were heavily influenced by regional crafts as opposed to any academic or trend based designs.

The green and yellow of this carpet show a typical Voysey pattern, rhythmic, flat, interlocking foliage and flowers around a border, with a similarly-patterned central rectangle.
