Waka Waka is a Los Angeles based studio focusing on wood furniture and functional objects designed and crafted by Shin Okuda. His work ranges from seating concepts, table series, storage structures, and spatial composition. Baltic birch plywood is his primary material for its utilitarian application, design possibilities and its strength and quality for furniture making. Laminate surfaces and lacquer are also used to infuse color in his collection. A new component to the Waka Waka world is his tea house series, investigating the history of tea ceremony architecture and philosophy. He is from Fukuoka, Japan and lives and works in Los Angeles.
